Birth parent services

free adoption services 1When you contact the Adoption Center, we will match you with an adoption counselor who will guide you through the process, supporting you every step of the way.  Our goal is to help you make a plan for yourself and your baby that is comfortable and stress-free.

You are entitled to receive free and comprehensive services and ongoing support, including:

  • Professional counseling – Talk one-on-one with an experienced adoption counselor who will help you plan for your future and that of your baby.
  • A personalized adoption plan – Tell us about your preferences for an adoptive family, such as race, siblings, age, and the type of relationship want before and after the placement.
  • Choice of adoptive parents – You are able review letters and pictures from waiting families, and choose your baby’s adoptive parents.
  • Quality medical coverage – We will help you apply for medical coverage, as needed.  If you have private medical insurance that does not cover 100 percent of your care, we will pay the difference.
  • Help with living expenses – In accordance with your state’s adoption laws, we will assist you with living expenses (e.g. rent, food, utilities, phone, maternity clothing, and other necessities) as needed before and for a period of time after the placement.
  • Legal assistance – Working with an experienced adoption attorney, we will adhere to the laws in your state to ensure that the adoption plan you make for your baby is secure, and your rights are protected.
  • Open adoption – You and your child’s adoptive parents can determine the amount of openness and level of future contact you wish to maintain. You may agree to stay in touch through family visits, phone calls, social networking, or letters and picture.

Our counselors are available to see expectant mothers throughout Illinois and Indiana. Your counselor will come to you so you won't have to worry about getting to our offices.  We have satellite offices in Merrillville, Bloomington and Elkhart County, Indiana.  We also have staff in Skokie, Chicago, Peoria, Champaign, Springfield and Southern Illinois.
